The Nature of Dreams

Join us on a mystical journey into the subconscious mind of dreams for a weekend retreat in the forest.

About the Facilitators:

Brent “Mage” Hanvey

Poet, Artist, Herbalist, and Yoga Teacher, Mage was first introduced to working with plant medicine after experiencing a very low undercurrent from prescribed pharmaceutical anti-depressants despite their desirable initial effects in his early 20’s. Since that point, he has dove deep into the study of permaculture ethics and how to integrate the wisdom of nature in everyday / urban settings.

In 2016 he completed his 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Punta Mona: Center for Botanical Research and Earth Regenerative Design in Costa Rica through Passion Yoga School. This program was a month long immersion on a completely off the grid permaculture farm and included modules on herbalism, aryuveda, and permaculture design.

The following year, Mage returned to Punta Mona to complete a Herbal Medic Training under the guidance of Sevensong and Sarah Wu. This 2 week training included categorization, preparation, ethics, triage, and application pertaining to herbalism. At the end of this training, students were able to apply what they had learned firsthand at a music festival called Envision. Students built a field herbal clinic that was stocked with extracts made by the training facilitators. This clinic worked side-by-side with EMTs and Psychedelic Harm Reduction to ensure that festival-goers had many modalities to receive the care that they needed. Collectively this clinic saw around 800 people over a 5 day period and gave Mage 40 hours of first hand clinical experience.

Presently Mage is working with his love to cultivate an off the grid sanctuary in the forest of Tennessee to serve as bridge to those surrounded by pavement back into the natural world. Simultaneously, they are building a brand, Moss and Bones, of herbal products that holds the active intention to do the same.

May Wild

May graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2007 and began practicing as a psychotherapist. The program taught students mostly by the book with very traditional practices for working to help people expand and heal. However she found that over time she moved further and further from the “traditional” ways of practicing as the literal definition of psychology is the study of the soul itself.

As May began following her own soul, she began integrating creativity and nature by working with clients and helping them find the nature within around 2000. About 5 years ago in 2016, she left her traditional practice and office to start working out of the art studio within her home. There she offered work with groups and individuals to bring them back to their creative force, which is the nature within them.

Aside from studio work, May also offered outdoor retreats. Her ultimate dream is to be able to have complete access and completely delve into working with the Earth while working with people to reunite to the natural wisdom that cannot be expressed in words. For the deeper knowing and deeper healing that happens in the stillness of the forest.

With this particular retreat she is leaning in heavily on Jungian types of work as when she was in practice, dream work was a very important aspect of bringing people back to their innate wisdom. Carl Jung's work, to her, speaks to the nature of things and being able to integrate dream work, the human experience and the nature in us and around us is critical in one's personal evolution.

Currently May is completing an herbal apprenticeship with one of the founders of High Garden, Leah Larabell. One of May's first hobbies she was naturally drawn towards as a child was working with herbs, plants, and nature itself. She would craft potions and pretend to cook with things found in her yard. Sumac was a personal favorite though the adults would tell her not touch it. Since she has left her traditional practice she has been able to focus on herbalism something that is very near and dear to her heart and soul.
